The Pope Ullman Fund for Experiential Learning Scholarship Enables every student to participate in the Signature SSS Trips program regardless of financial ability.
The Pope-Ullman TripsProgram at St. Stephen’s, named after beloved former teachers Helen Pope and Jack Ullman, is an integral part of the curriculum and a cherished tradition for nearly sixty-years.
Embedded in the core principles of the school’s philosophy is the idea that travel inspires a more profound sense of cultural awareness, deeper intellectual and personal growth, and development of healthy curiosity in every student. Trips are seen as an appropriate complement to fulfilling a student’s educational experience.
Each year, our adventurous trip leaders design fall and spring academic tours for nearly three hundred students, so they may explore destinations of the distant regions that were once part of the Roman Empire and beyond.
During the summer months, students embark on service-learning trips to various locations throughout Italy, Eastern Europe, Asia, and Africa, combining community service with reflection to enrich students' learning experience, while encouraging civic awareness.
The Pope Ullman Trips Program thrives because of the philanthropic support of generations of parents and alumni.
